Announcing Our Cape Town Edge Node
Africa has been underserved by CDNs for too long. We're fixing that — starting with Sub-Saharan Africa.
Today we’re turning on our Cape Town edge node — our first PoP on the African continent.
For years, African users have been an afterthought for global CDN providers. Traffic from Lagos, Nairobi, and Johannesburg routes through London or Frankfurt, adding 150-200ms of latency to every request. For real-time apps, video streaming, and API calls, that delay is more than a number — it’s a broken experience.
What changes
With the Cape Town node live, users in Sub-Saharan Africa now see latencies under 60ms — a 3x improvement over routing through Europe. The node is hosted in Teraco CT1, with direct peering to major African networks.
What’s next
Cape Town is the beginning, not the end. We’re evaluating Lagos and Nairobi for our next African PoPs, with target launch dates in Q4 2026.
